Have you ever been mesmerised by a pair of tailoring scissors? kitchen tongs?
Of course not, there is nothing extraordinary about these objects. They are rarely chosen as the subject of any photography. However, with the power of art and imagination, such ordinary objects have the potential to transcend to a surreal world. And that’s precisely what I have attempted through this self-created concept of Phantasgamoria.
Phantasmagoric means having a fantastic or deceptive appearance, as something in a dream or created by the imagination. Drawing inspiration from cymatic patterns (patterns that are produced when vibrations cause matter to move), I used light painting and shutter techniques with regular objects to create these unreal celestial-like patterns.
We all find ways of creating magic and surreality within our routine lives. So, why should photography be an exception?
